When reporting a bug, include your device model, OS version, and the app version. If a timer, load suggestion or board looks wrong, say which protocol or board you were using and what you expected — a screenshot helps.
Common questions
- Where is my data stored? On your device. Sessions, strength tests, protocols, workouts, plans, boards and their photos live in local app storage. There is no account and no sync. See the Privacy Policy for details.
- Does the app work offline? Yes, entirely. The timer, the library, your history and the load suggestions need no network access.
- Does the timer keep going when my phone is locked? The timer reads the clock rather than counting ticks, so it shows the right time when you come back to the app. Alerts while the phone is locked are delivered as local notifications, so allow notifications for CrimpLab and check that Focus or Do Not Disturb is not silencing them.
- How do I add my own fingerboard? Photograph it from the Boards tab in the Library, frame the photo, then tap to add holds and type in each hold's depth in millimetres. The first size you type sets the scale for the rest.
- What load should I use? Take the strength test, or enter your usual load. CrimpLab suggests a starting load from your own test and adjusts it from how your hangs went. The suggestion is a starting point, not advice: stop at sharp pain, and leave 48 to 72 hours between hard sessions.
- I use a resistance band. Add your bands in your collection with their measured assistance (your weight minus your weight standing in the band). Stacked bands add up, and a band session shows as under 100% of bodyweight.
- How do I back up or move to a new phone? Settings → Export backup writes a file with your sessions, tests, protocols, workouts, boards with photos and plans. On the new phone use Settings → Import backup; nothing is duplicated or overwritten. Settings also exports every hang as CSV.
- How do I delete everything? Delete individual sessions, boards, protocols and plans inside the app, or uninstall CrimpLab to remove all of its data from the device. Apple Health data you chose to share is managed in the Health app.
- Apple Health did not ask for permission. Health is off until you turn on “Sync with Apple Health” in Settings. If you declined, allow it in the Health app under Sharing → Apps → CrimpLab.
